Capt. Nathan Fry, officer in charge for U.S. soldiers, chops an ice bollard in the bay off the coast of Baffin Island Canada. The bollard will be used to secure a line supporting his tent. Canadian Rangers shared this skill with the U.S. soldiers. It has many different uses when there are few anchors on open ice. Ice bollards are strong enough to pull a snowmobile from the water if it's fallen through the ice.
