The 648th MEB commanded the Kabul Base Cluster (KBC), provided security for the Kabul province to include the capital city with a population of more than 5 million, provided governance to include economic capacity building and government development, and provided mentorship of Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in their area of operations.
