Australian hiker Debra Paver discusses her experience hiking in the Owen Stanley Mountain Range of Papua New Guinea. Paver was evacuated by helicopter from Alola Village to the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy to be treated for hyponatremia, a condition resulting from low sodium levels in the blood. Mercy is anchored off the coast of Papua New Guinea supporting Pacific Partnership 2008 and has embarked a multi-national group of medical and engineering professionals from military and non-governmental organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to several countries within the Pacific region.
