Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (PHD) established the Future State Task Force (FSTF) to examine emerging technologies and evolving capabilities across the surface force structure, to mitigate foreseeable challenges and to best position PHD for future support of our Navy.
Consisting of a diverse team across departments and disciplines, the FSTF researched, studied, compared and contrasted NSWC PHD’s current organizational structure with its aligned vision for the future. They examined the command’s historical evolution, conducted enterprise environmental scans, and analyzed other organization structures to determine how to improve and innovate NSWC PHD business today to meet the challenges and requirements of the future.
Our Navy continues to progress in its delivery of on-time capability of ships and improved lethality to meet a unique and fast-changing wartime environment. As the primary combat and weapon support agents for the surface fleet, we must flex to meet the Navy’s needs now and in the future to not only contribute to building a winning Navy team but to outpace development of capabilities against our near-peer competitors. Upon in-depth review, we recognize our current organizational structure must adapt now or become irrelevant to the U.S. Navy.
NSWC PHD’s reorganization is key to improving and streamlining how we do business as a team, and how we align our work in support of our customers and the fleet.
