Kings of Battle: 10th Marine Regiment, artillery, and the future of the Marine Corps
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – The thunderous power of Marine artillery, carried into the fight by units such as 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, has helped shape the Corps’ war-fighting capabilities for more than a century. It has gone through periods of growth and periods of reduction, adapted to ever-changing battlefields, and infused itself with modern technology. As the Marine Corps embraces its expeditionary mission and develops a roadmap for future operations, the “Kings of Battle” continue to adapt and pave their own way to support Marine operations. In expeditionary environments, alongside coalition allies, or in support of Marine infantry units on the field of battle, Marine artillery is working to fulfill its role as part of “the right force in the right place at the right time.” As he leads his Marines forward, Col. Clifford Weinstein, commanding officer of 10th Marine Regiment, sat down to share his expertise on the future of Marine artillery and how his unit is set to train, prepare, and fight.
