Troops complete training, head to Kosovo
For the past decade, troops have been training for deployments centered mostly around Iraq and Afghanistan, but with the change in pace, troops from Charlie Company, 1st Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Bragg, N.C., are preparing to head to Kosovo as part of KFOR 17.

Man’s best friend trains to detect explosives in Afghanistan
As security patrol operations continue in Afghanistan, American service members, Afghan civilians and coalition partners are prone to improvised explosive device attacks. The U.S. Army continues to train “man’s best friend” to help detect explosives and keep U.S. service members and their partners safe.

Airman begins clearing debris following devastating Moore tornado
The Midwest region of the U.S. is certainly no stranger to inclement weather having heavy snow and ice in the winter months and severe thunderstorms and deadly tornados during the spring and summer months. However, the recent string of storms that have passed through the region have left the towns of Newcastle, Moore, Oklahoma City and Shawnee in disarray, displacing hundreds of families, and resulting in 26 confirmed deaths.

Oklahoma National Guard members, who work side-by-side with local responders to aid in recovery efforts during domestic operations such as the May 20 tornado that tore through Oklahoma City and Moore, Okla., are given their tasks through the Guard’s Joint Operations Center.

While soldiers and airmen of the Oklahoma National Guard work to support local agencies in the wake of the devastating tornado that struck Moore, Okla., May 20, a group of military chaplains are on scene to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of the service members themselves.
