Army Total Force trains together at Warrior Exercise ‘14Flanked by Californian hills and sunburnt grass, U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers have a problem. They were manning an entry control point to a base as part of Warrior Exercise 2014, when a band of California National Guardsman launched an attack on their position. Simulated casualties litter the control point. Wounded attackers call for help, others pretend to mourn the fallen. Two Soldiers from the Reserve unit, public affairs broadcasters by trade, stand frozen in the middle.


New Hampshire Army National Guard’s success at XCTC
TakeoffFor almost three weeks, 4,000 soldiers from five states converged at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center to participate in the eXportable Combat Training Capability. XCTC is an opportunity for the Reserve component to conduct scenario-based exercises including: live-fire training, logistical operations and counter-IED training.


Iowa Soldiers perform combat water survival training
Jumping inTraining fades over time, so the Army constantly retrains Soldiers on critical individual tasks. These training exercises focus on personal courage, teamwork and preventing the re-occurrence of past mistakes. Iowa National Guard members performed combat water survival training, with Soldiers jumping into a pool’s deep end with load-bearing equipment and a weighted, rubber M16.


89th Sustainment Brigade conducts first-of-its-kind training
More than 100 Soldiers from the 89th Sustainment Brigade have gathered to participate in a Command Post Exercise – Functional July 24-31, 2014. The 89th SB is the first Army Reserve unit to ever conduct the CPX-F, the results of which will determine its future use for all sustainment units in the Army Reserve.
