Train as we fight: 29th Engineer Battalion prepares for the battlefield
Sapper emplaces Claymore mineA group of enemy combatants attack the 29th Engineer Battalion’s command post with every intention of breaching the perimeter. They make numerous attempts to gain an advantage, but the structure looks to be impenetrable. This particular command post is a well-built position, which is designed to prevent the loss of Soldiers and equipment. This is because of the dedication to duty and attention to detail of the Soldiers assigned to Alpha Company, 29th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.


Rising Thunder promotes unity and proficiency
Soldiers from the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade, participated in Rising Thunder 2014 with members of 12th Brigade, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force at Yakima Training Center, Washington, Sept. 2-24.


Families benefit from annual Kick Butts Day
Families benefit from annual Kick Butts DayNiland, a community off the beaten path in a remote part of California, partnered with the California National Guard for “Kick Butts Day” March 21, 2012. The annual event was held by the Calipatria Unified School District and the Imperial County Public Health Department and was aimed at providing information for parents and children in a predominately Spanish-speaking community. The event brought together several community coalitions as well as over 300 elementary students and their parents. Members of the California National Guard Counterdrug Task Force Drug Demand Reduction (DDR) Team delivered healthy lifestyle messages to the students and their families.


Annual POW/MIA Day observed at Fort Hood
The National POW/MIA Day Ceremony will be observed 9 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Ex-POW Memorial located in front of Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.
