Illinois National Guard Special Forces Company condcuts readiness assessment
Illinois Special Forces Company conducts assessmentTwice a year Company A, 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Chicago holds a Special Forces Assessment at Marseilles Training Center (MTC) for Soldiers considering a career change into the challenging world of special operations. Twenty-five service members reported to MTC April 11 for a grueling weekend of physical training, ruck marching and other activities that tested their mental and physical abilities.


Solar-powered school nears completion at Fort Stewart
Murray Elementary SchoolConstruction nears completion on a $20.5 million environmentally-friendly elementary school at Fort Stewart. Built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District and prime contractor Sauer, Inc., the new Murray Elementary School is equipped with over 450 solar panels, a wind turbine, and other sustainable design features.

WWII B-17 crew member returns to crash site
“You’re not getting any flak; you’re not getting any fighters. You’re just hurrying back home, that’s all it amounts too,” Troy Hollar said while at Chièvres Air Base, the very base whose flak batteries brought down his B-17 on April 13, 1944.
