Keeping her culture
Keeping her cultureDancing to Salsa and Merengue music through the house, cooking and eating dishes such as Bolon de Verde and celebrating Carnival are just a few of the Ecuadorian traditions she longs to keep alive. After living in Ecuador for 18 years, Airman Allison Campoverde, 22nd Medical Support Squadron medical records technician, followed her parents to New York.

Holloman celebrates 67th Air Force Birthday
Sixty-seven years ago today, Sept. 18, 1947, President Harry S. Truman established the U.S. Air Force as an independent military service and separate from the U.S. Army Air Corps. These past 67 years, Airmen have led the world in emerging technologies, airspace superiority and space exploration. Holloman Airmen have been making history from the very beginning.

Outdoor Rec gives Lajes Airmen an opportunity to travel back in time
Outdoor Rec helps Lajes experience vineyard festivalWith today's fast paced world, filled with technology, people can forget how hard and fun things used to be. Airmen and their families from Lajes saw a perfect example of this. While no time machines were actually used, Outdoor Recreation took them to the Biscoitos Vineyard Festival on Sept. 6, 2014, where locals dressed in traditional clothing and invited attendees to join them to travel behind an ox cart, to the vineyard, to collect grapes, like it was done many years ago.

Dual Slotted: Airman and stay-at-home dad
Family timeBefore the sun crests the treetops that flank that backside of Airman 1st Class Richard Wengler’s house, the 36-year-old father of two young boys gives them a kiss goodbye. He prepares to leave one career and report for duty at the 128th Air Refueling Wing, Maintenance Squadron, for his other career. This sounds familiar to most who serve in the military, leaving their family to report for service. Unlike most people who have a 40-hour work week to earn an income working in an office, working for a municipality, or working for the local cable provider, Wengler’s full-time job does not garner him a paycheck. It offers him something many parents would love to say is their full-time career. Wengler is a stay-at-home dad.
