Audio of Afghan National Security Forces officials and local government dignitaries gathered to celebrate the first class of Afghan Local Police at teh Gardez Regional Training Center. This first class of roughly 30 new recruits is a good example of Afghan forces continuing to grow and take the lead in securing Afghanistan.

  • The Afghan National Army 203rd 'Thunder' Corps opens a new freedom of movement training lane constructed by the newly formed ANA Engineer Kandak.  The ceremony officially completed the road development and top ANA engineer soldiers were recognized for outstanding performance during the construction project.
  • Afghan National Security Forces train with each other to combat explosive hazards in May at Forward Operating Base Thunder, May 5, 2013. This training allows line units in the ANSF to disarm small hazards without having to call up explosive ordnance disposal experts.
  • Coalition and Afghan National Security Forces partnerships are constantly trying to improve training for the Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police.  Outside training is important, but classroom training needs to implemented as well.   • Soldiers of the Afghan National Army 203rd "Thunder" Corps conduct improvised explosive device training with new Up-armored Mobile Tactical Vehicles. These new UAMTV's provide a more secure means for the ANA using the mine rollers to clear and secure areas of operations.
