LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. -- There are options for Airmen and their families when it comes to off-duty activities and several can be found on base.
The Outdoor Recreation Center has equipment to rent for vacations, such as camping, and they also provide planned trips like wine tasting, skiing and hang gliding.
"We want to support junior enlisted by raising morale and getting the young troops out of the dorms", said Anna Hall, ORC recreation specialist. "Airman can get supply and equipment from us at lower rate than going off base.
The ORC also has lawn equipment for rent such as lawn mowers, weed eaters and log splitters. They also have a specialist that can inform customers on how to use the equipment and what equipment is best for them.
"I like the efficient hours of operation and the convenience," said Michael Beville, manager at the Shellbank outdoor pool. "The people that work here are nice"
The hours for the facility are Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information contact the ORC at 764-7170.
