    DIYALA, Iraq — Alumni of the United States Military Academy West Point celebrated 208 years of excellence during the Founders' Day Dinner at Forward Operating Base Warhorse, March 27.

    General of the Army Douglas MacArthur once said, "Duty, Honor, Country — those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you want to be, what you can be, what you will be."

    The dinner honored the founding of an academy, March 16, 1802, known for molding some of the greatest military leaders of the nation; Eisenhower, Grant, Lee and MacArthur Among them. West Point instills discipline, tradition and mental and physical endurance to become a part of the Long Grey Line — those who put the nation's needs before their own through selfless service of duty.

    Alumni reminisced about their days at the academy from the everyday, mundane tasks to the intense curriculum.

    "The poignancy and significance of every action we did there and the gravity of how everything all comes back to the Long Grey Line resonates very profoundly," said Capt. Mary Nolan, a brigade prevention medical officer with Company C, 296 Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat team, 2nd Infantry Division, and class of 2004 graduate.
