KABUL, Afghanistan - Special Forces soldiers assisted the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan by moving civilians from the village of Nai Baghban, Uruzgan province to Kabul for continued medical care Sunday.
Two UH-60 helicopters ferried 10 civilians from Uruzgan province to an airfield near the city of Tarin Kwot for further movement to Kabul. The Afghan government moved the civilians via fixed-wing aircraft to Kabul. Five of the civilians transported will receive continued medical care in Kabul. The other five transported are family members who will stay with the patients until they are fully recovered.
"Today's operation demonstrates the great working relationship of Special Forces and the government of Afghanistan," said Sgt. 1st Class Andrew Kosterman, a Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan spokesperson. "It is a perfect example of the Afghan government taking care of its citizens; something the enemy cannot and will not do."
