KABUL, Afghanistan — ANSF forces in the Tagab district of Kapisa province are assisting ISAF with the evacuation of wounded children after an explosion this morning.

The explosion killed five civilians, including four children and injured three children. This is the second time in two days the insurgents killed or injured children.

"The cowardly act of hiding behind children and in this case killing them is disgraceful. In the strongest possible manner, I condemn these tactics and the attacks on the future of Afghanistan," said Maj. Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, spokesman, Ministry of Defense.

There were no ANSF or ISAF operations in the area at the time of the explosion.

The wounded children were evacuated to local military medical facilities for treatment.
