KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan and International Security Forces detained multiple suspected militants in five separate search operations to disrupt militant elements in eastern and southern Afghanistan Oct. 4 and today.
A joint force conducted two searches Oct. 4 in an effort to disrupt a Taliban element working in the southeast. In Ghazni province a joint force detained suspected militants during a search in the Gelan district. A suspected militant was also detained in Saydabad district, Wardak province. No one was injured or killed during the operation.
Today, a joint force detained a group of suspected militants after searching compounds northeast of Khowst City known to be used by a Haqqani facilitator and his element. The search was conducted without incident.
In Saydabad district, Wardak province, a joint force detained several suspected militants today after searching a series of buildings known to be used by a Taliban facilitator and his element. The group was suspected of providing financial support and for supplying weapons and improvised explosive devices to other militants.
In a third operation today a joint force detained a few suspected militants after searching a series of buildings west of Kandahar City.
The buildings are known to be used by a Taliban element responsible for the supply of weapons, explosives, fighters and money to other militant elements in the region.
No Afghan civilians were injured during these operations.

One International Security Assistance Force service member died of wounds sustained in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan Oct. 4. The service member was from the U.S.
One ISAF service member died of wounds inflicted in an IED attack in southern Afghanistan today.
Further details are being withheld until next-of-kin notification has been made.
