    Afghan-International Security Force Detains Suspected Militants in Khowst, Helmand

    KABUL, Afghanistan - Joint Afghan and International Security Forces pursued and detained several suspected militants in separate operations in Khowst province today, Sept. 23, and Helmand province, Sept. 22.

    The joint force searched groups of buildings west of Khowst City known to be used by militants to facilitate financial, logistical and media support for Haqqani activities and detained suspected militants.

    A daylight operation in Helmand province was conducted to disrupt Taliban activity in Garmser district. The joint force stopped and searched a vehicle used by suspected militants and detained element members for questioning.

    No Afghan civilians were harmed, and operations were accomplished without incident.

    ISAF had no casualties over the last 24 hours.

    Afghan and international security forces consistently work together to find, pursue and stop militants and to assist the Afghan government in providing essential services to the people of Afghanistan.
