    379th Air Expeditionary Wing

Senior Airman Luis Loza Gutierrez, force protection security escort assigned to the 379th Civil Engineer Squadron, puts the finishing touches on one of two new barriers located in front of the distinguished visitors lounge, Sept. 5, 2008, at an undisclosed air base in Southwest Asia. Airman Loza Gutierrez spent more than 40 hours completing the barriers containing a welcome sign with the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing's logo. The 379th AEW is nicknamed the "Grand Slam Wing" in honor of the 379th Bombardment Group that executed numerous successful missions during World War Two, a success and legacy which continues today with the B-1 bombers of the 379th AEW. Airman Loza Gutierrez, a native of Edcouch-Elsa, Texas, is deployed from Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
