INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana National Guard's 138th Financial Management Headquarters Company will be activated in the spring of 2010 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Indiana's Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger, recently received notification the finance corps Soldiers would deploy to Iraq to support the Global War on Terrorism.
Approximately 30 members of the Indianapolis unit will depart for Fort McCoy, Wis., to prepare their Warrior skills before arriving in theater. The unit is commanded by Lt. Col. John Seprodi and the senior enlisted Soldier is Sgt. Maj. Richard Pate.
The Indianapolis Soldiers will be providing finance operation support in Kuwait. More than 50 percent of the unit has deployed before, according to Seprodi.
"I got a lot of volunteers on this one," he said.
The unit's deployment time should be no more than a year.
"We're all proud to be carrying on the rich traditions of the Finance Corps," said Seprodi. "A lot of people hate us until they've got a pay problem, but we don't mind."
