It had been more than three years since they had seen each other, but that was about to change.

Staff Sgt. Bryant Preston, 380th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, was at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., when he found out he was deploying to the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing.

Shortly after, Senior Airman Erik Preston, 380th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, was at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., when he received the same news. He would soon be deployed to the 380th AEW.

Arriving within days of each other, the twin brothers met up at the 380th AEW in
    Southwest Asia in May 2009.

"It felt like I haven't seen him in forever," Airman Preston said.

Although the twin brothers had been very close growing up in Chicago, they went their own ways upon entering the Air Force more than six years ago.

"We were always there for each other growing up, but there is a time in everyone's life when they have to make it on their own," Airman Preston said. "We did just that."

Since reuniting at the 380th AEW, the brothers try to make time amongst their varying schedules to workout, play pool or videogames, or to just talk together.

"Each of us has changed a lot, but we are still brothers," Airman Preston said. "I truly feel blessed to be deployed with him."

The 380th AEW is home to KC-10s, U-2s, Global Hawks and E-3 Sentry's, and provides aerial refueling, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and air battle management to OPERATIONS ENDURING AND IRAQI FREEDOM.
