MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. — Brig. Gen. Charles L. Hudson assumed command of 1st Marine Logistics Group during a change of command ceremony held at the 13 Area parade field, June 26.
Hudson, 50, from Zirconia, N.C., relieved Brig. Gen. Robert R. Ruark, who will continue his service as the assistant deputy commandant for Installations and Logistics, Washington D.C.
Prior to assuming command of 1st MLG, Hudson served as chief, Office of Military Cooperation and the United States Defense Representative — Kuwait from 2007-2009.
The change of command ceremony included the passing of the colors, incoming and outgoing remarks from the commanding officers and a performance by the 1st Marine Division band.
During the ceremony, Ruark, 49, from Salem, Ohio, spoke of his appreciation for the Marines, Sailors and their families during his command of 1st MLG.
"As my tour with 1st Marine Logistics Group draws to a close, I want to thank the Marines and Sailors who have served these past two years under the MLG colors during combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, on deployments in the Pacific and Central Command areas of operation, and here in the continental United States," Ruark said.
Ruark stated he was glad to be Hudson's predecessor and there's no one better qualified for commanding 1st MLG. He also shared that Hudson brings a wealth of knowledge to the unit and will take 1st MLG to great places.
"I and the family are extremely happy about coming back to [1st Marine Expeditionary Force] and Southern California," Hudson said. "I look forward to serving with the Marines and Sailors of 1st MLG."
