KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan and coalition forces captured one known insurgent and one individual suspected to be involved in a bomb-making cell in Konar province, further disrupting a network of terrorists operating in eastern Afghanistan.

In Asmar District, approximately 100 kilometers northeast of Jalalabad, a combined Afghan-coalition force conducted an operation to capture and detain an insurgent tied to facilitation and construction of explosive devices used indiscriminately against Afghan citizens and coalition forces. Without firing any shots, forces detained the targeted insurgent and an individual suspected to be associated with this terrorist network operating in Konar province and neighboring Pakistan.

Five men, 10 women and 15 children were protected during the operation and remained on the compound after forces departed.
