Maj. Gen. Muhammad Jawad Hawaydi, Basra operations commander, speaks at the Basra province security council meeting Aug. 19. Also in attendance were Col. The two commanders attended the meeting as 17th FB, from Fort Lewis, Wash., prepares to replace 2nd BCT, 4th Inf. Div., currently commanding U.S. forces in Basra province. The weekly Iraqi-U.S. meeting addresses issues affecting the Iraqi security forces, consisting of the Iraqi army, Iraqi police, the Directorate of Border Enforcement and the Iraqi air force.
