194th Wing introduces MindGym

The 194th Wing, Washington Air National Guard launched the MindGym, a facility designed to strengthen the well-being and readiness of Airmen at Camp Murray, Wash., Nov.19, 2025.

The MindGym offers a unique, technology-driven approach to stress management and cognitive training. It’s an isolation chamber equipped with mirrors, light, and sound to create a low-sensory experience.

Users can choose from a library of 23 protocols to refresh, challenge, or engage their minds. The system also incorporates an optional biofeedback headband, allowing users to analyze their performance and monitor stress levels.

“We optimize our performance when we can reduce our stress response,” said Candy Campell, 194th Wing director of psychological health. “If you're running, you want to run three or more times a week to get better and more efficient at running. It's the same with managing our stress — we want to condition our mind to manage that stress and relaxation more efficiently.”

With the launching of the MindGym, Airmen now have a tool that can help condition their mind and manage stress response. The facility, located just outside the Airman Care Center in building 109, can be accessed following four easy steps:

  1. Schedule an appointment through a QR code system, which can be found on the business cards outside the Mindgym.
  2. At your scheduled appointment time, utilize the kiosk to choose a session and complete the pre-survey.
  3. Enter the MindGym, put on the headphones, take a seat and enjoy!
  4. When the session is over, complete the post-survey and log out.

“It’s a gym for your mind, go in there and work on the things that you want to work on,” said Campbell. “Let's normalize strengthening our brain just like we normalize strengthening our body.”
