On March 2, 2018 the Navy will commission USS Charleston (LCS 18), the sixth ship to be named after Charleston, the oldest and largest city in South Carolina. LCS18 is an Independence class variant of Littoral Combat Ship. The commissioning will be at 1000 eastern in Charleston SC.
