You can't really do this 01:03.479 --> 01:06.900 because you send in 200 men to pick up 01:06.900 --> 01:09.750 one . And it's something that's usually 01:09.750 --> 01:11.806 not attempted as much as you want to 01:11.806 --> 01:14.379 attempt . And bad things happen to that 01:14.379 --> 01:17.489 1 or 2 . An American 01:44.040 --> 01:46.879 F-15 fighter jet went down deep inside 01:46.879 --> 01:50.139 enemy territory in Iran while 01:50.360 --> 01:52.980 participating in Operation Epic Fury , 01:53.519 --> 01:55.630 where we're doing unbelievably well , 01:55.760 --> 01:57.982 well at a level that nobody's ever seen 01:57.982 --> 02:01.699 before . The entire country can be 02:01.699 --> 02:04.139 taken out in one night , and that night 02:04.139 --> 02:07.580 might be tomorrow night . Both members 02:07.580 --> 02:09.740 of the crew ejected from the aircraft 02:09.740 --> 02:12.940 and landed alive on Iranian soil . I 02:12.940 --> 02:16.630 immediately . We immediately mobilized a 05:55.239 --> 05:57.820 massive operation to retrieve him from 05:58.359 --> 06:01.850 the mountain holdout . And he kept 06:01.850 --> 06:04.017 going higher and higher . The mountain 06:04.017 --> 06:06.072 kept getting rougher and rougher and 06:06.072 --> 06:08.350 really very , very hard to find . The 06:08.350 --> 06:11.089 second rescue mission involved 155 06:11.089 --> 06:14.649 aircraft including 4 bombers , 64 06:14.649 --> 06:18.450 fighters , 48 refueling tankers , 13 06:18.450 --> 06:21.040 rescue aircraft , and more . We were 06:21.040 --> 06:23.809 bringing them all over and a lot of it 06:23.809 --> 06:27.170 was subterfuge . We wanted to have them 06:27.170 --> 06:29.226 think he was in a different location 06:29.570 --> 06:31.737 because they had a vast military force 06:31.737 --> 06:33.792 out there . And we had a lot of 08:13.619 --> 08:16.540 equipment , but the sand was it was 08:16.540 --> 08:19.420 sandy wet sand , so we thought there 08:19.420 --> 08:21.899 may be a problem taking off because of 08:21.899 --> 08:23.899 the weight of the plane and then we 08:23.899 --> 08:26.066 also had all the men jumping back onto 08:26.066 --> 08:28.660 the planes and they got pretty well 08:28.660 --> 08:31.420 bogged down and we had a contingency 08:31.420 --> 08:33.729 plan which was unbelievable where 08:33.729 --> 08:37.020 lighter , faster aircraft came in . We blew them up to smithereens 08:42.179 --> 08:44.346 because we had equipment on the planes 08:44.346 --> 08:46.512 that frankly we'd like to take , but I 08:46.512 --> 08:48.679 don't think it was worthwhile spending 08:48.679 --> 08:50.790 another 4 hours there taking it off , 08:50.790 --> 08:52.846 so we didn't want anybody to that we 08:52.846 --> 08:55.068 have the best , best equipment anywhere 08:55.068 --> 08:54.619 in the world . We didn't want anybody 08:54.619 --> 08:58.500 examining our , uh , anti-aircraft and 08:58.500 --> 09:01.210 other equipment . So these were large 09:01.210 --> 09:03.849 planes that were old and pretty old , 09:03.960 --> 09:07.489 and we blew them up . And we had faster , 09:07.849 --> 09:10.020 lighter planes come in and they were 09:10.020 --> 09:12.076 able to land on the sand . We needed 09:12.076 --> 09:14.076 the bigger planes because we had so 09:14.076 --> 09:16.298 much equipment that we needed . We took 09:16.298 --> 09:18.298 3 helicopters over there which were 09:18.298 --> 09:20.353 very strongly used and couldn't have 09:20.353 --> 09:22.520 lived without them . They did and they 09:22.520 --> 09:24.576 performed unbelievably well . And if 09:24.576 --> 09:24.380 you'd see it , you wouldn't believe it . 09:24.460 --> 09:26.859 They came off the plane and these guys 09:26.859 --> 09:30.479 had them , the , the . The rotors were 09:30.479 --> 09:33.640 off . They rebuilt these helicopters in 09:33.640 --> 09:36.989 less than 10 minutes . And they got them off the plane 09:51.409 --> 09:54.210 and they rebuilt all three of them in a 09:54.210 --> 09:56.809 matter of less than I would say less 09:56.809 --> 09:58.920 than 10 minutes .
