U.S. Marines with Assault Amphibian School, Training Command hold the Assault Amphibian Vehicle Sundown Ceremony at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Sept. 26th, 2025. The ceremony formally decommissioned the AAV, which entered Marine Corps service in 1972 and served as the Corps’ primary ship-to-shore amphibious assault vehicle for more than five decades.
