California Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Company B, 1-126th Aviation Regiment, operate CH-47 Chinook helicopters in support of wildland firefighting efforts in the San Bernardino Mountains, California, on Sept. 15, 2024. Working in coordination with CalFire, the U.S. Forest Service, and local fire agencies, the Chinooks perform critical water drops to help contain the 39,181-acre blaze, with containment efforts now at 50%. Their aerial support is essential in protecting surrounding communities.
