U.S. Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force soldiers with the 1st Amphibious Rapid Deployment Regiment conduct a ceremony for the Camp Ainoura 68th anniversary, held at Camp Ainoura, Sasebo, Japan, April 16, 2023. The ceremony demonstrated the force and capabilities of the JGSDF and included local performers and U.S. Marines from the 31st MEU. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
