As the first armored division of the United States Army to see battle, 1AD’s history dates back to July 15th, 1940. 1AD served in World War II, Korean War, Cuban Missile Crisis, Persian Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, and other operations.
