Spc. Djamilou Sebabe, a motor transport operator with 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, speaks on getting his U.S. citizenship in order to become eligible as a special forces candidate at Fort Stewart, Georgia, Feb. 08, 2023. Sebabe was born in Togo, Africa, and moved to Paris, France, at seven years old. After living in Paris for 12 years, Sebabe moved to the U.S. to further his education and to be reunited with his family. His desire to enlist in the Army came from wanting to break his daily routine and to get more out of life. Sebabe joined the Army in Dec. 2020 and has been awarded the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He credits everyone he's met in the Army who pushed him to be better and says the culture in the Army has helped him do better and help those around him. His career goals include earning the rank of sergeant, earning his ranger tab, completing air assault school and becoming a civil affairs specialist in a special operations unit.
