The 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley participated in Manhattan, Kansas' annual Honoring our Heroes and Day of Remembrance ceremony, September 11, 2022. The aptly named ceremony was hosted by the city in order to honor military and first responders, as well as remember those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Participating units included the Irwin Army Community Hospital, 1st Battalion 18th Infantry Regiment, 79th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion, 97th Military Police Battalion, 1st Infantry Division Band and the Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard.
