Multifaceted approaches to improve pharmaceutical drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier to the brain to counter chemical and biological threats and protect the warfighter. Researchers across many medical fields including oncology, infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease (such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s), and chemical and biological defense are working to deliver medical countermeasures (MCMS) to the central nervous system (CNS) to treat and protect against chemical warfare agents (CWAs) including organophosphate nerve agents (OPNAs), such as soman and sarin, and organophosphate (OP) pesticide poisoning.
