U.S. Marines with 3d Battalion, 2d Marines coordinate close air support with F-35B Lightning II aircraft assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 242 utilizing inert munitions at Combined Arms Training Center, Camp Fuji, Japan, June 28, 2022. This training marked the first-ever live close air support missions in Japan with an F-35B. 3/2 is forward deployed in the Indo-Pacific under 4th Marines, 3d Marine Division as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
