Kaylen Erfani describes her journey from Iran to America as an immigrant, and how it inspires her to volunteer her time as a translator for Afghans at Fort Bliss' Doña Ana Complex in New Mexico, Nov. 10, 2021. Erfani volunteers as a translator and works with the Female Engagement team whose current mission is to help female Afghans successfully transition from a Middle Eastern lifestyle to a western lifestyle while providing them with information about their opportunities in America. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan.
