Maj. Gen. Christopher Mahoney, the commanding general of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), conducts his final flight as Commanding General of 3rd MAW with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 314, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd MAW, on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, July 29, 2021. This was Mahoney’s final flight, and it signified his trust and confidence within the Marines of 3rd MAW and their ability to develop, direct and assess air operations in the execution of the six functions of Marine aviation.
