PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- A 302nd Airlift Wing C-130, MAFFS 2, taxis down the runway July 20, 2021, out of Peterson AFB, Colo. The 302nd Airlift Wing C-130 Hercules aircraft is equipped with the U.S. Forest Service’s Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System, which can drop up to 3,000 gallons of fire retardant in less than 10 seconds across a quarter-mile line. The MAFFS-equipped Air Force C-130 aircraft was activated through a DoD request for assistance, adding to three other aircraft that have been operating out of McClellan since June 26th.
