U.S. Army Central celebrated U.S. Army Sgt. Maj. Rebeca Kennedy's 30 years of dedicated service to her nation, to include more than 18 assignments and multiple combat tours, during a retirement ceremony May 14, 2021, at the command's headquarters on Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter, S.C. The ceremony also honored Kennedy's spouse, Retired U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Walter B. Kennedy, Jr. , and their two sons, Jaden (19) and Jacob (15), for their dedicated service and support. In her three decades of service, Kennedy held every noncommissioned officer leadership position and earned several top-level awards in the Army's Adjutant General Corps. In addition to being among the 1% of the Army's population to earn the top enlisted rank of sergeant major, Kennedy also represents the just .01% of the population who are Hispanic Female sergeants major. Kennedy is a native of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and was raised in Lancaster, PA.
