Two nearly identical barracks huts — called “B-huts” — constructed at the Air Force Civil Engineer Center Lab on Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, will soon be the site of a six-month energy efficiency experiment. Air Force and Navy civil engineers worked together to build the two structures where the northwest Florida spring and summer heat and humidity are very similar to climate conditions in other theaters of operation. The only difference between the huts is their level of energy efficiency.
