DeAnna Dixon, a civil engineer at the Information Technology Laboratory, discusses STEM mentorship and being recognized with a Black Engineer of the Year Award in a virtual interview Feb. 11, 2021. Dixon has mentored more than 100 students and promoted STEM in the local community. She has served as a member of Leadership Greater Jackson, where she was involved in training programs designed to develop and educate future STEM leaders, and has advocated for STEM outreach initiatives with organizations such as the ASCEND Youth Enrichment Program, Junior Auxiliary of Byram-Terry Crown Club and the Jack and Jill of America Foundation, Inc.
