Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III issued a new memorandum dated Feb. 4 2021 which directed "all individuals on military installations...will wear masks in accordance with the most current CDC guidelines." Austin made exceptions for "when the mask is required to be lowered briefly for identification or security purposes." In accordance with the most updated memo, individuals over the age of 18 entering Misawa Air Base will be asked to lower their mask briefly for identification purposes.
