The Indiana National Guard hosted a departure ceremony at Camp Atterbury for approximately 45 Hoosier citizen-soldiers with the 939th Military Police Detachment, Thursday, June 25, 2020. The military police soldiers will head to Fort Bliss, Texas then onto Qatar in the Middle East to perform law and order operations at a base camp. Since February 2019, the soldiers have been completing premobilization training. Training consisted of the law of war, suicide awareness and prevention, resiliency training, weapons qualification, non-lethal weapons training, patrol operations, traffic accidents, and basic soldier tasks. Indiana's Adjutant General, Brig. Gen. Dale Lyles, spoke to the soldiers, friends and family during the ceremony.
