The New York National Guard celebrates the 245th birthday of the United States Army with a cake-cutting ceremony at National Guard Headquarters in Latham, NY June 12, 2020.
During a traditional Army cake-cutting ceremony, the oldest Soldier present joins the youngest Soldier in cutting the Army Birthday cake. The older Soldier (Master Sgt. Roger Townsend, age 59) represents the history and traditions of the Army while the young Soldier (Specialist Charles Fetzer, age 22) represents its future.
Brigadier General Michel Natali, the Assistant Adjutant General, Army; presided over the ceremony.
