The Passive Integrated Transponder (PIT) tag monitoring system is the first of its kind to read and store PIT tag data collected in the high-velocity spillway environment on the Snake/Columbia river system.
PIT tag data identifies individual fish that have been tagged in the system upstream of Lower Granite Dam. Now that the spillway PIT tag monitoring system is operational, it provides
a much larger data set for regional fish managers to use to evaluate system performance and make decisions about future system operations.
