Department of Defense and Department of State joined forces in an unprecedented global effort to bring home U.S. citizens in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. U.S. military members from the Air Force, Navy, Army, and Marine Corps have played a key role in the logistical coordination required to help U.S citizens with speed and tenacity during a crisis. As of April 9, 2020, the U.S. Mission in Peru has repatriated more than 6,800 citizens — the highest number among 97 diplomatic missions, which together have brought over 52,000 Americans home. Air Force Col. Schilling is a native of Detroit, Michigan. U.S. Marine Maj Armando Daviu is a native of Glendale, California. Army Capt. Joseph Reppert is a native of Bridgeport, West Virginia.
