U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Alexander Ponce, SSgt. Ryan Crider, and Cpl. Matthew Aulgur each give their thoughts on the Artillery Relocation Training Program and their roles in the exercise on Feb 12. 2020, at the Hijudai Maneuver Area, Oita, Japan. ARTP is a regularly scheduled exercise conducted by several units within 3rd Marine Division. The program provides essential live-fire training in different regions of Japan to increase combat readiness in defense of U.S. and Japan and supports the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the two countries. Ponce is an Artillery officer with Alpha Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, and a native of Simi Valley, Calif. Crider is a Platoon Sergeant with Alpha Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, and a native of Garland, Texas.
