the 2nd Cavalry Regiment fought against the world class OpFor from 1-6 Nov. 2019 during Exercise Dragoon Ready at the joint Multinational Readiness center in Hohenfels.
this is not that story.
This is the story about when the exercise ends and the dirty work begins. My name is Angelo Perez Martinez, I’m with Support Platoon HHC 1st Battalion 4th infantry regiment.
On the Schedule we are Typically in recovery for 3 to 5 days depending on how quickly things get done.
For our Support Platoon that is Typically a longer time due to the amount of Class 4 and class five that has to be recovered from all the other units
Class 4 is construction materials. Anything that is utilized for creating barriers and obstacles, that includes Concertina wire, simulated AP and Anti-tank and anti-personnel mines and anything associated to construct these type of obstacles.
And then Class 5 is specifically referring to the ammunition that we utilize in the box.
So today primarily for our platoon we are going to go out into the box and scout out all the consolidated Class four construction materials they utilized in the box to see if it is ready for pick up so that we can turn it into the German class 4 yard.
As well as the consolidation of all the ammunition spent and unspent ammunition by both parties at our platoon office, so that we can get it together and turn it in at the ammunition supply point.
So for our platoon specifically we don’t get to use the wash rack right away because our vehicles are still going to be in use still turning and burning in the box collecting all the necessary class 4.
So for us wash rack operations usually happen later on. But primarily we will be doing a lot of activity in the box still
