The story of 1st Lt. James Conway is retold for Veterans Day and on the 60th anniversary of his death on November 12, 2014.
While intercepting an aircraft as part of the 101st Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Lt. Conway’s plane malfunctioned shortly after takeoff from Logan Airport in Boston Massachusetts. Rather than ejecting, Lt. Conway stayed with the aircraft and guided it away from crowded residential areas.
This 102nd Intelligence Wing video is a combination of historic footage, stock footage, and location shots in East Boston.
