U.S. Marines with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Southern Command revisit schools and a hospital reconstructed by the SPMAGTF Logistic Command Element in 2015 and 2016 in Puerto Lempira, Honduras, Sept. 20, 2019. Since the reconstruction of the schools by the Marines, there has been an increase in 11 classrooms, 5 teachers, and nearly 400 students. The fence built by the SPMAGTF surrounding Puerto Lempira hospital has also provided effective security improvements. The task force is conducting training and engineering projects alongside partner nation military forces in Central and South America. The unit is also on standby to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the event of emergencies in the region. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Dante Fries)
