Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, Critical Care Air Transport, and Aeromedical Evacuation teams came together on a historic trip, saving the life of a Soldier wounded during combat operations in Afghanistan. The rapid response trip to evacuate the service member saw a level of in-flight critical care never seen before. The 20-hour straight flight home with constant dialysis was a crucial link in getting the Soldier to the higher level of care they needed.
